Social and Environmental Responsibility
Our clothing company’s mission statement embraces the Triple Bottom Line framework of People, Planet, and Prosperity. That is, we believe the true measure of our performance goes beyond the traditional measurement of profit and return on investment to include social and environmental responsibility.
We make certain that all aspects of our socially responsible clothing company are in keeping with the Triple Bottom Line framework, as the essence of sustainability means holding ourselves accountable for the total impact we have on the world for current and future generations.
Through operating by example and adhering to our clothing company’s mission statement, we hope to create widespread, much-needed change, as well as inspire positive action everywhere.

Sustainable Fashion Committed to a Social Change
All partners and suppliers with whom we work comply with lur®’s strict code of conduct and have met the standards of our intensive and recurring review process. In addition, we are constantly seeking further substantiation and certifications for our processes as well as our products themselves. All cutting and sewing facilities are socially and quality compliant as approved by independent third-party certifiers.
Helping women create opportunities
We dedicate a portion of our profits to Friendship Bridge, a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide microcredit and education to help impoverished women establish their own businesses and to help themselves, their families, and their communities to rise out of poverty. lur®’s vocational center partner CECAP (Centro de Capacitacion), has created a local product development initiative which focuses on training individuals and students (mostly women) to gain the skills necessary to produce products that will be marketed both locally and internationally. CECAP offers programs for students and adults in sewing, computer education, carpentry, welding and foot loom weaving. lur® supports CECAP through our Wear It Forward program and by producing our line of accessories there.
Water treatment at our finishing plant
Sustainable fashion committed to a healthy planet
lur® utilizes unique, state-of-the-art technology in our manufacturing, which assures our clothing is produced in the most sustainable manner possible.
Sourcing: We research and require certification showing that the raw material sourced for our fabrics does not originate from non-native or genetically modified organisms.
Fiber: In our fiber choices, we minimize the use of non-renewable resources so as to minimize depletion and environmental damage, as well as reduce the potential for environmental harm.
Processing: We make certain that our processing has the absolute minimum impact on the environment. Our current yarn spinner uses state-of-the-art, eco-friendly equipment as well as generates their own energy on-site. Our knitter and finisher provide energy and environmental efficiencies via heat recapture and water treatment technologies.
No harmful dyes are used in the creation of our fabrics as we utilize the colors already present in our fiber content. In addition, our fabric finishing process saves 60-70% of the water and energy spent in more traditional manufacturing methods.
